Vellum by Zoffany has been discontinued.
High quality papers were often stamped by their makers mark; the original fragment of paper that inspired this design was made by the Italian firm Picardo a well established company that was founded in approximately 1500. It is thought that the firm supplied papers to many artists including Leonardo da Vinci. The original paper for this design dates from the early 18th century and shows the then revolutionary technique of paper making using very fine sieves. This refined technique has been translated to create a delicate and distinguished striped paper which has been gravure printed to show the fine detail in 8 colourways.
