Merchant House Stripe is an extremely rare design which dates back to the mid 17th century and the original wall painting sits at The Merchants House in Marlborough built by Thomas Bayly a silk merchant. The rooms decoration is rooted in a long tradition of “silken saye” hangings but also demonstrates a move away from the Elizabethan format of dividing a painted wall into frieze fill and wainscot as the stripe reaches floor to ceiling. Printed on wide-width wallpaper it can be hung vertically or horizontally and is available in four colourways.
This is a wide width wallcovering - one roll will cover an area of 6.89sqm (74.16sqft)
