Rococo Mirror shows a typical scroll pattern taken from a Genoa Velvet in the Zoffany archive. The history of the pattern can be dated to the Italian Renaissance and the 16th century. Genoa velvets were made in to clothing for wealthy clients and often incorperated fine silk and gold thread to highlight the scroll work patterns in the designs.
