This design has been adapted from a rare textile sample dating from the 18th Century which was discovered in a farmhouse in Provence. These textiles known as China Blues or Bleu Anglais were block printed with indigo pigment onto a pattern of paste resist to create simple stylised motifs of flowers and fruits.
